For my birthday i got a jsk from momo's handicraft's made, and it's surprisingly good but... It's huge. Even for me. It's actually too long even for me and the skirt has, dare I say, has to much volume. In all the photos I'm using TWO of indykitty's double layer petticoats which are, like, TOO poofy for things like brand unless it;s rather heavy. I'm seriously swimming in this thing.
So, I'm looking to see if anyone would like to volunteer there services in making this more practical. I am moving next week, so i wouldn't actually be placing my order until next week at the earliest, but I want to get cost estimates and possible seamstresses lined up.
crappy photos of the dress:

Its hard to tell but it's way to long and way too big, I guess. I'll need at least, like, three inches of length taken off. I love the ruffles though, so I'm wondering if the skirt can be cut off, the length cut from the top, then re-sewed on? and some of the volume removed at the same time (probably in the dead center of the back would be the best place to take that in, but I don't know much about sewing. The bodice fits me, just right really, but I'm not really sure I like it. I think it looks a bit awkward going that far down? I almost want the length of the bodice reduced to make it more like an empire waisted dress, but I'm not sure. So I'm really looking for suggestions on improving the bodice, which looks rather boring as far as I'm concerned. So suggestions and comments are welcomed. I want to make this into something I'm more comfortable wearing but without spending an arm and a leg, so yes, price does matter.
If you are a seamstress, please include a link to some previous work also :) That and a description of what you think you could do to make this better haha. Thanks!
