Rule Clarification: DA/EA/GO reminders

A few of you have contacted us about confusion regarding DA/EA reminders, mainly if the reminders are allowed to bypass the 4 day posting rule. After taking a closer look at the rules and consequences post, it has come to our attention that there's no clear directions as to whether or not the reminders are exempt from 4 day posting rules. So to amend this oversight on our part, the following is a clarification on DA/EA reminders.

The simple and short way of saying this:

-If a DA ends in less than 4 days (96 hours), their reminder may bypass the 4 day posting rule, but only ONE may be posted.
-If a DA ends in 4 days (96+ hours) or more, their reminder must follow the 4 day posting rule. They get to post as many reminders as the 4 day posting rule allows.
-If one wants to extend the auction ending time, and if the extension plus the original end time is still less than 4 days (96 hours), then they get ONE reminder that bypasses the 4 day posting rule, and ONE extension post.
-If one wants to extend the auction ending time, and if the extension plus the original end time puts it over 4 days, then they get to post as many reminders as the 4 day posting rule allows them, and only ONE extension post.

Here are some examples to demonstrate the above amendments. Pretend that the following was made by aonele, and they are found when one uses the "find post by user" function:

Sept 1st, 2011, 1pm--EA ENDING IN 24 HOURS, BIDS STARTING AT $1! (original)
Sept 2nd, 2011, 10am--EA ENDING IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS!!! (1st reminder)
Sept 2nd, 2011, 3pm--EA EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 24 HOURS!! ENDING ON SEPT 3RD AT 3PM!! (1 extension, no more reminder posts because the total auction time for this was less than 4 days, and poster already used up her 1 reminder)

October 1st, 2011, 1pm--EA ENDING IN 24 HOURS, BIDS STARTING AT $1! (original post)
October 2nd, 2011, 10am--EA ENDING IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS!!! (1st reminder)
October 2nd, 2011, 12:54pm--EA EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 5 DAYS!! ENDING ON SEPT 7TH AT 3PM!! (1 extension)
October 6th, 2011, 3pm--EA ENDING IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, BID NOW!!! (2nd reminder, made after 4 days from the 1st reminder. No more extension or reminder posts allowed since the poster already used her 1 extension and made 2 reminders)

Posts that violate the above amendment will be given a formal warning, regardless of whether the reminder was found in the submission queue or already approved, as it otherwise breaks the 4 day posting rule. Extensions are allowed only ONCE every auction post. If your items didn't sell even after the extension, you must wait 4 weeks to repost them (or reduce the starting bid price by 20% to repost within 4 weeks.)

These amendments go into effect immediately after this post, however posts before this announcement are exempt. We will give everyone at least a day or two to adjust.

Thanks for reading, please let us know if you have any questions!

October 18, 2011: The rules have been amended: 4 days is now clarified as 96 hours. If the hours count up to less than 96 hours (ie 95 hours), then it is considered less than 4 days. If the hours count up to 96 hours or more (96.5 hours) then it is considered 4 days.
Extension posts are now considered different from reminder posts. Extension posts may bypass the 4 day posting rule, but they may only be posted once
Examples above have been clarified as well.
